Will You Help Niko?

Our pack member Niko just turned 3 years old last December. Unfortunately he has sustained a serious injury and WE NEED TO ASK FOR YOUR HELP. He has a torn ACL in one of his rear legs that is going to require surgery.

Niko joined the U.S. Wolf Refuge pack in late December 2012 when he was only 13 months old. You can read his entire story on our website under "The Wolves". He has spent the last 2 years finding his place within the pack and growing up. He has grown from a 65 lb. "off-the-charts" high energy teenager to a now 105 lb. more confident "almost-grown-up" 3 year old wolf-dog.

Unfortunately this young animal has done something while running or playing to cause an injury to one of this rear legs. Our veterinarian's examination has found that he has a torn ACL that requires surgery as soon as possible. This is going to be a costly surgery that can be in the $2,000-$2,500 range.

We would appreciate ANY help you can lend.

Donations can be made by ...

- Credit card directly to our veterinarian's office - Dr. Maureen Adams, All Creatures Veterinary Hospital in Reno, NV. (775) 851-3151. Please state that your donation is a U.S. Wolf Refuge donation for NIKO'S surgery. They will mail you a receipt.

You are also welcome to go onto our website and click on either one of the donation buttons. "Temerity's Four-Footed Angels" Emergency Medical Fund or the "General Donations" and make a note that your donation is for Niko.

A personal (or company) check can be mailed to:

U.S. Wolf Refuge
P.O. Box 2756
Sparks, NV. 89432

Please note on your check that your donation is for Niko's surgery.

We thank you and Niko thanks you!!!

Stanford Powwow Mother's Day Weekend 2015"

The countdown has begun! It won't be long until all the U.S. Wolf Refuge staff, volunteers and ambassador animals will be packing it up and heading to the beautiful Stanford University Campus in Palo Alto California for the 44th ANNUAL STANFORD POWWOW. This will be the 8th year that we have returned to this event.top of page

We're very excited to introduce some of our new fundraising products this year in our fundraising "Gift Shop". We'll have ladies summer tank tops (anticipating a warm Mother's Day Weekend) as well as brand new U.S. Wolf Refuge Tote Bags with a new embroidery design that is really pretty. You can find these tote bags in our on-line Gift Shop very soon as well. The proceeds from purchasing our products helps us build up the U.S. Wolf Refuge emergency medical fund, "Temerity's 4-Footed Angels."

As usual the powwow begins Friday evening May 8th, is open all day Saturday and closing ceremonies are usually about 5:00 p.m. Sunday May 10th. Pay us a visit and meet our ambassador KASA and special ambassador TAKODA (up close and personal) and who knows who else might show up!!!! If you live in the San Franciso Bay Area or driving distance please stop by our booth to say "HI". If you'd like to volunteer this weekend (in the Gift Shop or the Information Booth) please Contact Bill a the US Wolf Refuge

Pack Member of the Month

We all love to talk about and write about our wonderful and beautiful Ambassador Wolf-Dog KASA. Her name Kasa means "dressed in furs" in the Native American Hopi language. I think she could not have ever received a more fitting name.

Kasa has been very busy lately. She has accompanied Bill Chamberlain on a few of his speaking engagements in Arizona as well as at Yellowstone National Park. This Alpha female always gets a lot of attention wherever she goes.

You can read Kasa's story on her page on our website under "The Wolves" but I can personally attest to the fact that the day she came to our refuge was life changing for all of us ... wolf and human alike. top of page

Kasa, the Golden Wolf

Kasa is as powerful as she is lovely - both in physical and spiritual strength. For a period of time she and our former Ambassador ARIES (who has crossed that rainbow bridge) were an inseparable pair. She mourned his loss as well as we did.

If you plan on attending this year's Stanford Powwow you will have the opportunity of meeting Kasa up close and personal!

In honor of KASA (as well as all of our ambassador animals before and after her) her Adopt-a-Wolf packet will be on SPECIAL for the entire month of March. top of page
