Farewell to a Loving Friend

Trivia

In May we lost a close friend and the loving companion to our webmaster Paul and his wife Mitzi. Trivia lived a wonderful and full life devoted to them for 14 years. She was not only a gorgeous Wolf-Dog but she had an unbelievable, very entertaining personality. She was always so excited to have company come by that she literally bounced off everything. Trivia patiently sat in her own chair beside Paul in his office every day as he worked and she let everyone know that it was HER chair. Trivia will be sincerely missed by everyone and our heartfelt condolences go out to Paul and Mitzi.

Pack Member of the Month

"Arrow"

Comanche

The pack member of the month for June is Arrow. The "Keeper of the Arrow" comes to us from a multiple pet family in Battle Mountain Nevada after Bill Chamberlain received a phone call stating that the family needed to have their 100 lb. "pure wolf" gone.

ARROW received his new name after volunteers noticed an arrow shape in the middle of his forehead. There was some deliberation on whether his name should be "Arrow" or "Keeper" since U.S. Wolf Refuge pack member Athena took to him immediately, as well as all the volunteers. He was definitely a keeper. The two of them have been inseparable since their first meeting, thus "Keeper of the Arrow" he was dubbed!

This wonderful animal is perfect in every way. He is very friendly to man and beast! If he is indeed a wolf-dog as he was presented to us, he would be wolf and Siberian Husky mix, although the wolf part is highly unlikely. Arrow is now six years old and only weighs in at about 65 pounds. Regardless of whether he is a wolf-dog or not, this wonderful guy is home now.

You can help Arrow and the U.S. Wolf Refuge staff to care for his pack by purchasing his Adopt-a-Wolf packet which is on special the entire month of June. top of page

Great PowWow

This years Stanford Powwow was WONDERFUL! Our fundraising Gift Shop (which supports our emergency medical fund (Temerity's 4-Footed Angels) did very well as hundreds of people stopped by to visit our ambassador animals KASA and TAKODA and supported our work by either making a donation, shopping in our Gift Shop, or both.

Bill Chamberlain had the opportunity to speak with the large crowds that surrounded us, and he and our staff and volunteers answered many questions as usual. The whole experience was very festive and exciting. We saw people that come back year after year to visit us and our ambassadors. We met with old friends and new.

Our hardworking staff (Bill, Shellie, Chris, Lorna and Dawnie) and volunteers (Mike, Colette, Dave, Arlene, Kelly, Kai, Andrew, Deron, Robin and Kathy) all did a FANTASTIC job and their efforts are greatly appreciated.

Below are some images from the PowWow. Click on the image for a larger version.
